Maximin Grünhaus, located in Mertesdorf, Germany, is a historic winery with viticultural roots dating back to Roman times and first documented in 966. Originally part of the Benedictine monastery of Saint Maximin in Trier, the estate was transformed into a palace complex in the 19th century.

It was purchased by Carl Ferdinand Freiherr von Stumm-Halberg in 1881 and came into the hands of the von Schubert family through marriage, who have managed it since 1882 across six generations. The estate includes three unique monopole vineyards—Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg—each with distinct terroirs producing world-renowned Riesling wines known for their minerality, spice, and aging potential.

Today, Maximin Grünhaus maintains a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture, using organic fertilization and hand harvesting, with a focus on preserving tradition while embracing modern techniques under the direction of Maximin and Amelie von Schubert.
