Meleto Castle
Italy, Italy
Meleto Castle (Castello di Meleto) is a historic medieval castle located near Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany’s famous Chianti wine region.
Dating back to at least the 11th and 13th centuries, it was originally built as a fortified stronghold and later developed into an elegant noble residence surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Over the centuries, the castle played a role in regional conflicts between Florence and Siena and was gradually enhanced with refined architectural features, including stately rooms and an 18th-century theater.
Its well-preserved towers, walls, and courtyards reflect both its military and aristocratic past. Today, Meleto Castle is best known as a wine estate and visitor attraction, where guests can explore the historic castle, tour the ancient cellars, taste Chianti wines, and enjoy the scenic landscapes that make this part of Tuscany so famous.
