Monte Battaglia is also famous for the fierce World War II battle fought there in September and October 1944, when Allied troops and Italian partisans successfully defended the summit against repeated German counterattacks during the campaign to break through the Gothic Line. Today, the site features memorials, fortress ruins, and panoramic views, serving as both a historical landmark and a symbol of peace and remembrance.
