Museum Burg Bederkesa
Geestland, Germany, Germany
Museum Burg Bederkesa is an archaeological and regional‑history museum housed in the restored Burg Bederkesa in the town of Bad Bederkesa within the municipality of Geestland, in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, Germany. The museum opened in 1982 and displays finds from more than 10,000 sites in the district, ranging from the 4th millennium BC to modern times, with particularly notable exhibits from the Fallward cemetery of the 4th–5th century AD, including rare wooden furniture and other well‑preserved grave goods. Alongside indoor displays of prehistoric and historical artefacts, the museum also manages so‑called “monument paths” that lead visitors to archaeological sites and ground monuments in the wider Elbe‑Weser triangle, combining the restored castle as a cultural venue with an active, open‑air exploration of the region’s long settlement history.
