Nabran is a small coastal resort municipality in the Khachmaz district of northeastern Azerbaijan, situated directly on the Caspian Sea shore near the Russian border. It is one of the country’s main beach‑and‑forest holiday destinations, known for its long stretches of soft sand, mild subtropical climate, and dense relict forests that grow right up to the sea. Originally a fishing village set up by Russian settlers in the late 19th or early 20th century, Nabran later became a Soviet‑era health and recreation zone, and today it draws thousands of visitors each summer for swimming, sunbathing, and nature walks. The wider Nabran area includes several small villages and is only a few hours’ drive from Baku, making it a popular weekend and summer getaway for locals and regional tourists.
