The Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden, University of Agder (Norwegian: Naturmuseum og botanisk hage, Universitetet i Agder), is the only natural history museum on the Southern Coast of Norway, located in Kristiansand at Gimleveien 27, 4630 Kristiansand, Norway. Founded in 1828 under the name Kristiansand Museum and succeeding Kristiansand Museum from 1828, it was renamed Agder Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden in 1994 and became part of the University of Agder in 2017. As a state museum, it curates and develops scientific collections in botany, zoology, and geology, offering visitors a main exhibition titled "From the Ice Age to the Present" that presents geological chronology and natural specimens, a current exhibition (Exhibition Greenhouse), an outdoor rock exhibition, and a beautiful botanical garden with more than 2,000 different plants. The botanical garden is one of only six botanical gardens in Norway and features Norway's largest collection of cactus, special sections with carnivorous plants, an arboretum of coniferous trees, flowers and trees from all parts of the world, regional flora and fauna displayed in detailed environments, and a historical rose garden dating from 1850.
