Neuendorf Flèche

Neuendorf Flèche, also known as the Neuendorf Flesche, was a defensive work of the Prussian fortress system around Koblenz, built as part of the Koblenz‑Lützel‑Neuendorf sector and belonging to the larger Feste Kaiser Franz complex on the left bank of the Rhine.

It was a small, low‑lying flesche (or earthen redoubt) located in what is now the Lützel part of Koblenz‑Neuendorf, designed to cover the approach to the main fortress positions and to strengthen the Rhine defense along the plateau above the river.

The structure was completed around 1825 and remained in military use until the early 20th century, when much of the outer ring of the Koblenz fortress was dismantled and the Neuendorf Flesche was largely demolished in 1910.

Today only underground remnants and scattered traces of the earthworks survive beneath the area of the former Rhein‑Kaserne, leaving the Neuendorf Flèche as an almost invisible historical layer of Koblenz’s former fortress belt rather than a visible monument.
