Verified Neues Schloss Tangerhütte

Tangerhütte, Germany, Germany

Neues Schloss Tangerhütte is a Neoclassical mansion located in Tangerhütte, Germany, built between 1909 and 1911 as a wedding gift from Franz Wagenführ von Arnim to his son Johann Jacob Franz Wagenführ von Arnim.

The castle reflects Italian-inspired Neoclassical architectural style, featuring three stories and a prominent mansard roof. Its exterior displays the Wagenführ family crest prominently above the entrance, while inside, visitors can admire a grand staircase with marble columns and ornate details, including an elaborate fireplace designed by the local sculptor Otto Funke.

Historically, the Schloss has served multiple roles, including a tuberculosis sanatorium and nursing home after World War II. Now owned by the city, it hosts guided tours, weddings, and other events. It is situated within the Stadtpark Tangerhütte, a beautiful park established in 1873 by the Wagenführ family around their ironworks business.

The park includes historic features like the Altes Schloss, a swan pond, a waterfall, and a Paris World's Fair cast-iron pavilion, creating a scenic and cultural destination enjoyed year-round by visitors interested in history, architecture, and nature.
