Neuhaus, Schloß Friedrichsbühl
Bellheim, Germany, Germany
Schloss Friedrichsbühl, also called Neuhaus or Neuhaus Bellheim, is a Renaissance hunting lodge ruin situated in the Bellheim Forest north of Bellheim in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Constructed in 1552 by Elector Palatine Friedrich II as one of three such lodges, it functioned as a pleasure palace and later a stud farm before abandonment during the Thirty Years' War, suffering destruction in 1627 and 1674.
By around 1725, the remains—including a water moat—were sold for demolition and materials reused locally, with the original Renaissance portal preserved until 1897 at Bellheim's Nikolauskirche and now displayed at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer; recent EU-funded projects have enabled virtual reconstructions.
