The New Palace in Potsdam, Germany, was built between 1763 and 1769 by King Frederick the Great as a grand Baroque residence to demonstrate Prussia's power following the Seven Years' War.

Unlike the smaller Sanssouci Palace, the New Palace is a vast, imposing structure with over 200 rooms arranged symmetrically around a central dome. It features lavishly decorated banquet halls, galleries, and royal apartments with artworks from renowned Dutch, Flemish, Italian, and French painters. Notable interior highlights include the Grotto Hall with walls encrusted with shells and semi-precious stones, and the Marble Gallery.

The palace originally served mostly as a guest house for royal visitors and for grand celebrations rather than the king's main residence, who preferred Sanssouci. Its extensive gardens include iconic structures like the Temple of Friendship and the Antique Temple.

Today, the New Palace is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin and houses university departments and exhibition spaces, continuing its cultural legacy.
