Oberhof
Ballenstedt, Germany, Germany
Oberhof in Ballenstedt, Germany, is a Renaissance manor house first mentioned in 1488, originally expanded into a fortified town castle by the Lords of Stammer in the 16th century, featuring a three-winged stone structure with groin vaults, Renaissance gables, and a high enclosing wall.
Acquired by Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian of Anhalt-Bernburg in 1825 and later by Armgard von Alvensleben in 1874, who renovated the building and laid out its 15,000 m² English-style landscape park designed by Peter Joseph Lenné with exotic trees, a pigeon tower, and viewpoints.
Today privately owned, it hosts cultural events in its historic setting amid Ballenstedt's old town, preserving original interiors like beamed ceilings and painted panels.
