O'Brien's Tower

Republic of Ireland, Ireland

---

O’Brien’s Tower is a historic stone observation tower located at the highest point of the famous Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland.

It was built in 1835 by Cornelius O’Brien, a local landowner and Member of Parliament, to provide visitors with an elevated viewpoint from which to admire the dramatic coastal scenery. Perched high above the Atlantic Ocean, the tower offers spectacular views of the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, and the mountains of Connemara on clear days.

It quickly became a landmark and helped establish the cliffs as one of Ireland’s most popular tourist destinations. Today, O’Brien’s Tower remains one of the most recognizable features of the Cliffs of Moher. Its historic architecture and breathtaking location make it a favorite spot for visitors seeking panoramic views and a deeper connection to Ireland’s natural and cultural heritage.
