Old Town
Maine, United States
Old Town is a small city in Penobscot County, Maine, in the United States, with a population of about 7,400 people living mostly on Marsh Island in the Penobscot River.
The area has long been home to the Penobscot Nation, whose main village was once called “Indian Old Town,” and the modern city later took that name when it separated from neighboring Orono in the 19th century.
Old Town is known historically for logging and paper‑mill industries along the river, and today it is also recognized for the century‑old Old Town Canoe Company, which still manufactures canoes and kayaks there.
