Ormara is a small coastal town and port in the Gwadar District of Balochistan province, Pakistan, lying on the Arabian Sea about halfway between Karachi and Gwadar along the Makran Coastal Highway.
Historically, it was an isolated settlement that only began to grow visibly after the highway was built and the Pakistan Navy established the Jinnah Naval Base nearby, which has brought more infrastructure and local jobs.
Most of Ormara’s population lives from fishing and related maritime activities, while others work in retail or migrate to the Middle East, and the town offers quiet, relatively untouched beaches and a traditional, low‑key coastal atmosphere that still feels distinct from Pakistan’s larger port cities.
