Orto Botanico di Napoli is the University of Naples Federico II’s botanical garden, located on Via Foria in central Naples, and it is one of Italy’s most important plant collections.
Founded in 1807, it was created for education, research, and the cultivation of useful plants, and today it covers about 12 hectares with roughly 25,000 specimens and thousands of plant species. The garden also preserves rare and threatened plants and supports scientific study, teaching, and public outreach, making it both a green retreat and a living museum of plant diversity.
