Palais Bellevue
Kassel, Germany, Germany
Palais Bellevue in Kassel, Germany, is a small 18th-century town palace built in 1714 by French architect Paul du Ry as an astronomical observatory for Landgrave Charles of Hesse-Kassel.
Originally on the "Schöne Aussicht" with views over the Fulda River and Karlsaue park, it later served as a royal residence, including for Jérôme Bonaparte, King of Westphalia, after the main city palace burned in 1811, and once housed the Brothers Grimm Museum until 2009.
Renovated and reopened in 2023, it now functions as a cultural center for literature and music, featuring the Literaturhaus Kassel, Spohr Museum, and event spaces while preserving its authentic late-18th-century interiors under monument protection.
