Palais Schaumburg
Bonn, Germany, Germany
Palais Schaumburg in Bonn, Germany, is a neoclassical villa built between 1858 and 1860 for a textile manufacturer, later acquired by Prince Adolf of Schaumburg-Lippe in 1890, which lent it its name.
From 1949 to 1976, it served as the primary official seat and residence of West Germany's Federal Chancellor—known simply as the "House of the Federal Chancellor"—before the new Chancellery was completed nearby.
After the 1999 government relocation to Berlin, it functioned as the Chancellor's secondary Bonn office amid a scenic park, though plans announced in 2024 aim to repurpose it due to costly renovations. This image depicts the elegant white mansion with its clock tower, framed by trees and lawns.
