Palangan is historically significant as it once served as the seat of the Bani Ardalan rulers for over 470 years and features an ancient castle nearby that dates back to the Medes era. The local community preserves traditional Kurdish culture, cuisine, and games, making it a vibrant destination. 

The village is surrounded by forests and mountains like Kol and Serlu, creating a lush and serene environment. Palangan is also renowned for its agricultural produce including wheat, fruits, honey, and local delicacies. Despite its tranquility, it attracts many visitors especially during Nowruz, the Persian New Year, when cultural celebrations fill the village with music, dance, and traditional festivities, earning it the nickname "Lost Paradise of Kurdistan".
