Palazzo Santucci is a historic fortified palace that stands at the highest point of the medieval village of Navelli in Italy’s Abruzzo region. Built in 1632 on the remains of an older castle dating back to the early Middle Ages, it served as the residence of the local feudal lords and later took its name from the Santucci family, its last private owners. The palace combines elegant residential spaces with defensive features, including corner watchtowers, traces of a moat, and a solid fortified structure. Inside, it is known for its large central courtyard, monumental well, double staircase, and graceful loggia, which reflect its Renaissance design. Today, Palazzo Santucci is one of Navelli’s most important landmarks and a symbol of the village’s long history. Although it has undergone restoration and has hosted cultural events, it has also faced damage from earthquakes, making preservation efforts an important part of its recent story.
