The Palmengarten Frankfurt is a 20-hectare botanical garden and urban park in Frankfurt, Germany that has enchanted visitors for more than 150 years with its glass greenhouses and countless native and exotic plants from around the world.
The garden's centerpiece is the 18-meter-high palm house opened in 1869, which remains one of the largest palm houses in Europe and houses mighty palm specimens some over 100 years old. Visitors can take a botanical journey through Earth's climate zones experiencing desert landscapes, jungle tours, and mangrove forests, while the outdoor gardens feature delicate flowers, opulent rhododendrons, giant cacti, alpine herbs, carnivorous exotics, and the palm trees that give the garden its name.
The Palmengarten also includes the Goethe Garden named after Frankfurt's famous son who was a passionate gardener, and offers regular guided tours, exhibitions, and music events among the lush greenery. The garden is open November to February from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and March to October from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, located at Siesmayerstraße 63 with easy public transport access via U6/U7 to Westend station or bus 32 to Botanischer Garten.
