The Plain of Jars in Xiangkhouang Province, Laos, is an ancient archaeological site featuring thousands of large stone jars scattered across upland valleys and hills. Dating mostly from the Iron Age between 500 BCE and 500 CE, these megalithic jars were likely used for funerary purposes, with evidence of human remains, burial goods, and cremations found nearby.

The jars vary in size, with some weighing up to 14 tons, and were transported from quarries several kilometers away, showcasing impressive ancient engineering. The site is historically significant both as a cultural heritage location and for its complex past, including being heavily bombed during the Laotian Civil War.

Despite safety challenges from unexploded ordnance, several jar sites are accessible to visitors and the area reflects the rich prehistoric traditions and social hierarchies of early Southeast Asian civilizations.
