Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington, is a sprawling 760-acre urban park located on a peninsula surrounded by Puget Sound, with origins dating back to the late 19th century.

Initially a military reservation following the Wilkes Expedition in the 1840s, it was designated as a public park in 1888 after community efforts, and the city acquired full ownership in 1905. The park features a diverse array of attractions, including the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, scenic beaches such as Owen Beach, a historic Fort Nisqually site, extensive gardens, and miles of walking and biking trails.

It also includes old-growth forests, some trees over 400 years old, and scenic viewpoints that showcase mountain vistas and coastal landscapes.
