Pöppendorfer Ringwall
Lübeck, Germany, Germany
Pöppendorfer Ringwall is a well-preserved Slavic ringwall fortress from the 8th century, built by the Wagrier tribe in Pöppendorf, part of Lübeck's Kücknitz district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, along the path to Waldhusener Forst.
Recognized as one of eastern Holstein's most impressive and intact examples, it served as a fortified settlement until around 1000 AD, when it was abandoned amid shifting settlement patterns and the rise of nearby Alt Lübeck, with associated middle Slavic ceramics and nearby prehistoric tumuli confirming its historical role.
