Posht Ghale (also written Posht Qale, Pusht Ghale, or Pusht‑Kala) is an ancient fortress located about five kilometers south of the city of Abdanan in Ilam Province, western Iran, on a high hill roughly 200 meters above the surrounding land.

The site is a military fort originally built during the Sassanid period (224–651 CE) and later modified and used in post‑Islamic periods, and it is now registered as one of Iran’s national monuments (listed in 2001 in the year 1380 of the Iranian calendar) because of its historical and architectural importance. 

The fortress covers an area of about two hectares and is surrounded by an oval rampart about three meters high, with surviving sections showing guard towers, watchtowers, ramparts, a royal hall (shahneshin), residential rooms, stairways, and even a tunnel, all built mainly of stone and plaster. The Doiraj river flows below the castle, giving the site a striking natural setting and a scenic view over the valley.
