Priamar Fortress in Savona, Italy, was built between 1542 and 1544 by the Republic of Genoa to protect the city and assert Genoese power. Situated on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea, the fortress replaced much of the medieval Savona including its cathedral and important buildings to create a powerful defensive complex.

Architect Giovanni Maria Olgiati designed a bastioned fortification system that exploited the natural terrain, and later enhancements included bastions and palaces added over the 17th and 18th centuries. The fortress served various roles including a military stronghold and prison, where notable Italian patriot Giuseppe Mazzini was incarcerated in the 1830s.

After a period of abandonment, it has been restored and now functions as a cultural center featuring museums, art exhibitions, an archaeological museum, and an open-air theater space. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Ligurian coast and explore the rich history housed within its walls, making it a prominent landmark and vibrant cultural hub in Savona.
