Quart Castle is a medieval fortress located on a rocky hill near Aosta in Italy’s Aosta Valley.

Built around the late 12th century by the Lords of Quart, it occupied a strategic position overlooking the valley and the important routes that connected northern Italy with the Alpine passes. Over the centuries, the castle evolved from a military stronghold into a noble residence.

After passing to the House of Savoy in the late 14th century, it was expanded and modified, gaining halls, a chapel, and decorative frescoes that reflected its growing residential role. Today, Quart Castle is considered one of the most significant historic monuments in the Aosta Valley. Its impressive architecture, commanding location, and centuries of history offer visitors a fascinating insight into the region’s medieval past.
