Queens Botanical Garden, located in Flushing, New York, originated as a horticultural exhibit called "Gardens on Parade" during the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair.

After the fair, local residents worked to preserve and expand this garden, officially establishing it as the Queens Botanical Garden Society in 1946. Originally situated at the fairgrounds, it was relocated in 1963 to its current site on Main Street in Flushing, after which it grew significantly. The garden now encompasses nearly 40 acres and features a diverse range of plant collections, including native and exotic species, along with specialized gardens such as a fragrance garden, herb garden, and children's garden.

It also boasts historic plantings like two blue atlas cedars that mark its entrance, a testament to its origins in the 1939 fair. Over the decades, Queens Botanical Garden has evolved into a nationally recognized, sustainable, and community-focused green space that serves educational, cultural, and recreational purposes, reflecting the diverse population of Queens and emphasizing environmental stewardship and ecological resilience.​
