Quiçama National Park, also known as Kissama National Park, is Angola’s most famous wildlife reserve and lies about 70 kilometres south of Luanda.
Stretching between the Kwanza River, the Longa River, and the Atlantic coast, the park features a diverse landscape of savannas, woodlands, wetlands, riverbanks, and coastal habitats. After wildlife populations were severely affected during Angola’s civil war, major conservation efforts, including the renowned “Operation Noah’s Ark,” helped reintroduce elephants, giraffes, zebras, and other animals.
Today, the park is a leading destination for safaris, birdwatching, and nature tourism, showcasing Angola’s remarkable biodiversity and ecological recovery.
