Rhina
Germany, Germany
Rhina is a small village in eastern Hesse, Germany, part of the Haunetal municipality in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district.
First documented in 1003 with Paleolithic traces dating back 10,000 years, it developed around Fulda Abbey lands under knightly control, featuring wealthy families and Reformation-era pottery production.
Once home to a thriving Jewish community with a synagogue from 1782 and cemetery from 1837, it endured Nazi persecution, with 49 residents deported and murdered by 1939, before post-war floods and 1971 incorporation into Haunetal.
