Ringstabekk
Norway, Norway
Ringstabekk is a residential district in Bærum municipality near Oslo, Norway, originating from the historic Øvre Stabekk farm with archaeological finds like ancient axes and arrowheads, owned by Hovedøya Monastery until the 1536 Reformation and later by the Crown. Renamed after Jens Ring's 1839 purchase, it features the Neogothic "Slottet" manor built in 1851 by architect Heinrich Ernst Schirmer as a social hub, which became Norway's State College for Domestic Science Teachers in 1909, later serving as a university campus until 2003 and now preserved for events and temporary schooling. The area developed around Ringstabekk station on the Kolsås Line since 1924, with Stabæk IF sports club establishing fields there post-1912, blending suburban homes, schools, and sports facilities.
