Riomaggiore is the southernmost village in Italy's Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Liguria along the rugged Riviera di Levante coastline, perched dramatically on cliffs overlooking the Gulf of Genoa with colorful terraced houses climbing steep valleys.

Founded in the early 13th century, it features a lively main street, Via Colombo, lined with shops, bars, and restaurants, a small pebble beach by the harbor filled with fishing boats, and historic sites like the 14th-century Gothic Church of San Giovanni Battista, the 1260 Castle offering sea panoramas, and the nearby Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero.

Connected to Manarola via the scenic Via dell'Amore path (when open), it's renowned for local wines from hillside vineyards, fresh seafood, and hiking trails through national park lands, drawing visitors for its authentic charm despite crowds in summer.
