Rittergut Aue
Wanfried, Germany, Germany
Rittergut Aue is a historic Renaissance manor house built in 1576 by Reinhard von Eschwege in the Aue district of Wanfried, Hesse, Germany.
Destroyed by Croatian riders during the Thirty Years' War in 1637 and later rebuilt, it features a red sandstone base, round-arched portal, and two timber-framed upper floors across a 12,000-square-meter estate with nine buildings, including 19th-century agricultural structures.
After decades of decay, the protected cultural monument has been under restoration since 2020 as a revitalized residential, cultural, and life-farm site, marking its 450th anniversary in 2026.
