Rocca di Angera is a magnificent medieval fortress perched on a rocky hill overlooking the southern shore of Lake Maggiore in Lombardy.

Dating back to at least the 11th century, it was originally controlled by the Archbishops of Milan before passing to the Visconti family and later to the Borromeo family, who have owned it for centuries. The castle is admired for its well-preserved towers, courtyards, and historic halls, including the famous Hall of Justice, which contains some of the finest medieval frescoes in northern Italy.

Over time, the fortress evolved from a defensive stronghold into a noble residence while retaining its imposing medieval character. Today, Rocca di Angera is one of the most important historical attractions around Lake Maggiore. Visitors can explore its elegant rooms, medieval garden, and renowned Doll and Toy Museum while enjoying spectacular panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape.
