Rocca di Narni, also known as the Rocca Albornoziana, is a commanding medieval fortress that stands above the town of Narni in Umbria.

Built between 1367 and 1378 on the orders of Cardinal Egidio Albornoz, it was designed to strengthen papal control over central Italy and to guard important routes linking Narni with Perugia, Terni, Amelia, and the Via Flaminia. Constructed on a strategic hilltop, the fortress features a square layout with strong corner towers and defensive walls.

Throughout its history, it witnessed numerous conflicts, hosted popes and military leaders, and successfully resisted several attacks, including a famous siege by the Landsknechts in 1527. Today, Rocca di Narni is one of the town’s most important landmarks. Carefully restored, it offers visitors impressive medieval architecture, fascinating historical stories, and spectacular views over Narni, the Nera Valley, and the surrounding Umbrian landscape.
