Rød Manor House in Halden, Norway, is one of the country's largest and best-preserved manor complexes, with its main building's oldest parts dating to the 1600s and significant expansions in the 1700s under influential Tank and Anker families involved in shipping, timber, sugar refining, and politics. The elegant east wing from 1733 overlooks Iddefjorden where ships once anchored, featuring preserved 18th-19th century interiors with period furniture, art by Hans Gude, royal bedrooms, a lion carpet, and Norway's largest private weapon collection. Surrounded by exceptional gardens blending Baroque symmetry, an English landscape park, hazelnut avenue, lindetunnel, octagonal 1756 pavilion, dams, eremitthytte, and saluttbatteri, it operates as a museum under Østfoldmuseene with summer guided tours, events, café, and open park access.
