Ruderi Castello di Andora
Castello, Italy, Italy
The Ruderi Castello di Andora are the remains of a medieval hilltop fortress that formed the original settlement of modern-day Andora in Liguria.
Built between the 12th and 13th centuries in a strategic defensive position overlooking the Merula Valley, the castle was initially controlled by the Clavesana family before passing to the Republic of Genoa. Over time, the population gradually moved to lower areas near the coast, and the fortress declined, leaving behind the ruins visible today.
The site remains an important historical landmark, offering insight into the region’s medieval past and impressive views of the surrounding landscape.
