The Ruderi del Castello di Maniago are the remains of a medieval fortress overlooking the town of Maniago in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Built between the 11th and 12th centuries as a defensive stronghold linked to the Patriarchate of Aquileia, the castle occupied a strategic position for controlling the surrounding territory and trade routes. Over the centuries it was expanded with towers, residences, and defensive walls, but it gradually lost its military importance and fell into decline after the 16th century.
Today, the picturesque ruins are a popular historical attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s medieval past along with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
