Ruine Luisenburg HWN 77
Blankenburg, Germany, Germany
Ruine Luisenburg (HWN 77) is a small 18th-century belvedere ruin on the Calviusberg hill above Blankenburg in Germany's Harz Mountains, built in 1728 by architect Hermann Korb for Duchess Christine Luise of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel as an octagonal timber-framed pavilion offering panoramic views.
Named after the duchess, the single-storey structure with a central hall and surrounding rooms served as a scenic outlook until its dilapidation led to demolition in 1945. Today, its remnants form Harzer Wandernadel checkpoint 77 just south of Blankenburg Castle, popular among hikers for forested trails and vistas over the town and Harz landscape.
