Ruine Naumburg
Bärenbach, Germany, Germany
Ruine Naumburg near Bärenbach in Germany's Bad Kreuznach district, Rhineland-Palatinate, is a medieval hill castle ruin first documented in 1146 as the seat of Raugrave Emicho, named "Graf von Nuenburc" ("Count of Naumburg").
Likely built as the "New Castle" (Neue Burg) after nearby older fortresses like Kyrburg, it served as a key Raugrave stronghold overlooking where the Bärenbach brook meets the Nahe River, tied to their regional holdings including courts on nearby streams.
Controlled through the County of Sponheim's partition in 1706 and later under Baden-Baden until French occupation, the site was dismantled during that era, leaving remnants like a round tower rebuilt in the 1980s amid Bärenbach's history of clearing and settlement from the 7th-12th centuries.
