Sapodilla Cayes is a stunning chain of 14 mostly uninhabited palm-fringed sand and mangrove islands forming Belize's southernmost marine reserve, established in 1996 and spanning about 39,000 acres (15,618 hectares) at the tip of the Belize Barrier Reef in the Gulf of Honduras near Punta Gorda.

This protected UNESCO World Heritage area teems with vibrant coral reefs boasting up to 60% live coral cover, diverse marine life including turtles, rays, dolphins, whale sharks, over 500 fish species, and key spawning sites, ideal for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, fishing, and beach relaxation on spots like idyllic Hunting Caye.

Remote yet accessible by 2.5-hour boat from Punta Gorda, it faces territorial claims from Guatemala and Honduras but remains a pristine eco-haven for nature enthusiasts amid crystal lagoons and shallow reefs.
