Schloss Bredeneek
Lehmkuhlen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Bredeneek is a neoclassical manor house in Lehmkuhlen near Preetz, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, rebuilt in its current form between 1898 and 1902 on earlier 19th-century foundations designed by architect Johann Matthias Hansen.
Originally part of Gut Lehmkuhlen's estate after the 16th-century abandonment of a nearby village, it passed through noble families like Ahlefeldt and Reventlow before merchant Conrad Hinrich Donner expanded it, leading to its colloquial "castle" status despite being a protected cultural manor.
Today under private ownership since 2004, the renovated 2,700-square-meter structure with a 6-hectare park of old trees hosts events like children's festivals and discussions, preserved through a citizens' foundation to prevent decay.
