Schloss Eckberg
Dresden, Germany, Germany
Schloss Eckberg is a neo-Gothic villa perched on a rocky Elbe River cliff in Dresden's Loschwitz district, Germany, constructed between 1859 and 1861 for wealthy merchant John Daniel Souchay by architect Christian Friedrich Arnold, a student of Gottfried Semper.
One of Dresden's three "Elbe castles," it features Tudor-style elements like pointed arches, turrets including a 25-meter observation tower, and asymmetrical wings adapted to the rugged terrain, surrounded by an expansive Romantic landscape park.
Originally a luxurious summer residence for the Souchay family until 1926 and later home to toothpaste magnate Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg, it now operates as a hotel and event venue preserving its historic interiors and panoramic river views.
