Schloss Engers
Neuwied, Germany, Germany
Schloss Engers is a well-preserved late Baroque palace on the Rhine River in Engers, part of Neuwied in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate, constructed between 1758 and 1762 after Trier Elector Johann Philipp von Walderdorff demolished the medieval Kunostein Castle to build this hunting and summer residence designed by architect Johannes Seiz.
Featuring ornate interiors by artists like stuccoist Michael Eytel, painter Januarius Zick, and sculptor Ferdinand Dietz—including the grand Diana Hall—it served the Trier electors residing in nearby Koblenz amid rivalry with the Counts of Wied.
Today, the elegant complex with its scenic riverside gardens hosts cultural events and houses Villa Musica, Rhineland-Palatinate's foundation for young chamber musicians.
