Erxleben, Börde, Germany, Germany
Schloss Erxleben in Erxleben, Börde district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, originated as a 12th-century moated lowland castle with ramparts and water ditches, first mentioned around 1273 and destroyed multiple times including by Emperor Otto IV around 1214, in 1319 by fire, and again in 1441.
Owned by the von Alvensleben family from 1270, it was divided in 1554 into Schloss I (white line) and Schloss II (black line) after the red line's extinction, with late Gothic and Renaissance expansions like the 1526 main wing, chapel (1562-1580), and 1679-1682 renovations.
The complex endured the Thirty Years' War before serving as noble residences until 1945 expropriation, now partially ruined but under restoration as a cultural site.
