Schloss Favorite, Ludwigsburg
Ludwigsburg, Germany, Germany
Schloss Favorite in Ludwigsburg, Germany, is a Baroque hunting lodge built from 1717 to 1723 for Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg by architect Donato Giuseppe Frisoni, inspired by Vienna's Gartenpalais as a pleasure retreat amid pheasant grounds and parklands visible from the main Ludwigsburg Palace.
Featuring a central pavilion with towers, flanking wings, and grand staircases, it hosted lavish events like the 1748 fireworks for Duke Carl Eugen's wedding before King Frederick I converted the park to a ménagerie and had Nikolaus Friedrich von Thouret update interiors to neoclassical style around 1806.
Restored from 1972-1982 after wartime neglect, the site now draws visitors for its opulent rooms, gardens, and royal history exhibitions.
