Schloss Friedewald
Friedewald, Germany, Germany
Schloss Friedewald in Friedewald, Germany, is a striking late Renaissance castle built around 1580 by Count Heinrich IV zu Sayn in the Westerwald region of Rhineland-Palatinate, featuring a magnificent courtyard façade and evolving from a medieval high castle.
Restored between 1885 and 1895 after decay, it later served various roles including a court and military use before becoming the Protestant Social Academy's conference center in 1954, framed by a 5-hectare English park with exotic trees like sequoias and a rose garden.
Today, this rectangular complex with 16th-17th century wings and a 1913-14 north addition hosts weddings, events, seminars, and cultural gatherings in its historic rooms.
