Schloss Friedrichstein is a striking Baroque castle perched on Schlossberg hill in Altwildungen, part of Bad Wildungen in Hesse, Germany.
Originally a Gothic fortress built around 1200 by Count Friedrich of Thuringia, it was transformed in the late 17th century by the Counts of Waldeck, with Graf Friedrich Anton Ulrich completing the symmetrical U-shaped design, terrace, and side wings between 1707 and 1714.
Today, managed by Hessen Kassel Heritage, it houses a museum showcasing Hessian military history with Empire-style rooms, weapons, uniforms, and Ottoman artifacts, plus guided tours, a café with panoramic town views, and event spaces for weddings.
