Schloss Gödens is a striking moated baroque‑style palace in the municipality of Sande, in the district of Friesland, Lower Saxony, near the Jade Bay and the North Sea.

It stands on the site of a medieval chieftain’s seat and was later developed into the ancestral home of the noble family von Gödens, with the current imposing water castle taking shape in the 17th century after a fire in 1669, when Haro Burchard von Frydag rebuilt it in its present form.

The complex features a two‑winged red‑brick structure surrounded by double moats and is often described as one of the most beautiful castles in East Frisia, notable for its Dutch‑Renaissance and baroque architecture as well as rich interior furnishings such as leather‑wall coverings, tapestries, and portrait paintings.

Even today the castle remains in private ownership by the counts von Wedel family, is under heritage protection, and is mainly open to the public for special events and by prior arrangement, while its park and tranquil water setting make it a popular stop for visitors in the region.
