Schloss Jägerhof
Düsseldorf, Germany, Germany
Schloss Jägerhof in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a Rococo-style hunting lodge built between 1752 and 1763 by Elector Karl Theodor on designs by architect Johann Joseph Couven, with execution by Nicolas de Pigage, originally located outside the city gates amid a game park.
Sacked by French revolutionary forces in 1796 and left uninhabitable, it was restored in 1811 for Napoleon's visit per Adolf von Vagedes' plans, later expanded in the 1820s into a three-wing structure before side wings were demolished around 1900 when the city acquired it.
Since 1987, the elegant mansion has housed the Goethe-Museum with the Anton- und Katharina Kippenberg-Stiftung's collection and the Ernst Schneider Foundation for graphics, set as a focal point of the Hofgarten.
