Schloss Kaarz Mit Park
Weitendorf, Germany, Germany
Schloss Kaarz mit Park in Weitendorf, Germany, is a picturesque manor house at the heart of a 17th-century estate in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, rebuilt in the late 19th century by Hamburg merchant Julius Hüniken with architects Friedrich Saniter and Albrecht Becker, and later refined into its current form by his son with an English landscape park designed by Carl Ansorge.
The seven-hectare park features rare trees like 500-year-old oaks, Douglas firs, and cypresses, plus hidden neo-Gothic chapel and Neorenaissance mausoleum remnants from prior owners such as the von Bülow and von Weltzien families.
After WWII uses as a school and old people's home, repurchase by descendants in 1992, and sale to Dutch entrepreneur Fanja Pon in 2013, it now thrives as a hotel, restaurant, café, and event venue amid the scenic Kaarzer Holz forest.
